How to Bring More People to Your Website

Is your website a closely held trade secret? Is your website easily found by your audience? For too many, their website may as well be a closely held secret because potential clients aren’t able to find it. Every day people use the search engines as a starting point, prior to making a purchase. This means that unless you rank well in the search engines for the search phrases that people actually use when they are looking for what you provide, your customers can’t find your website and are doing business with your competitors as a result.

Is your website a closely held trade secret? If this describes your dilemma, one of the best ways to turn the situation around to your advantage is to give people a reason to visit your website over and over again. There are a variety of ways to achieve this, depending on your industry and business model, but one of the most tried-and-true methods is that of publishing to your website (and other online channels) short articles, blogs, videos, etc., that relate to your product or service.

Writing and posting short articles that are relevant to your potential customers is the most effective method of bringing lots of people to your website. Unlike some of the here-today-gone-tomorrow ideas for getting visitors to your website, this one is endorsed by Google, Bing, Yahoo, and the other search engines and when properly implemented will generate a steady stream of visitors to your web site.

The search engines exist to provide searchers with links to content relevant for any given search phrases. The search engine doesn’t really care whether the links they put at the top of the search results are for your business or for your competition. They only care about providing the most relevant results. You can use this to your advantage.

The key for business owners is to provide content that your target audience will find interesting and relevant. Once this is done, the search engines will want to place your website at the top of results for relevant search phrases.

Additionally, as people discover the short articles that you have published and become interested, they will provide links from their blogs, facebook pages, twitter accounts, and social bookmarking collections, etc., and word continues to spread. When this happens, the search engines take notice. You see, they take the quality and quantity of links coming into your website into consideration when they determine where in the list of search results your website will appear.

If you want to get more visitors for your website, you must give people a reason to come and then a reason to come back until they are ready to buy. Provide the world with interesting and relevant information on a regular basis and people will come to your website in droves.

That’s a good start Greg. Consistently writing new short articles and creating short videos will give those new first time visitors to your site a reason to come back.
